There are 3 factors that will affect the month shown upon the very 1st popup.

  1. if the value of the associated form field is a valid date, then this date will be selected and shown up.
  2. if the gdSelect option is set and valid, then the calendar will come up with it.
  3. if none of the above applies, the calendar will show up with the month set by the default-month parameter in the name & id of the iframe tag. But no date gets selected.

Therefore the easiest way to init the month or date of the popup calendar is to put a valid date in the form field.
